Thought for Today: II Chronical 7:1

Our world is in trouble. Internationally, the brutality of Islamic terrorism parallels the barbarism of the Hitler regime. The Middle East is in turmoil and Iran is moving closer to becoming a nuclear power. On a national level, our society continues down the pathway of moral decay and the national debt is spiraling out of control.

The woes of our world and society are well documented on the evening news and the worldwide web. As a result, most people are aware of the unrest and strife that exists today. However, few agree on the remedy. Some advocate political solutions while others espouse the need for more education and economic equality among people.

Fortunately, the Bible provides us with the solution for what ails our world. The cure is

not found in the realms of politics, education, or economics. Instead it rests in the hearts

of those who name Christ as their savior. The Bible states in II Chronicles 7:14:“If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

A single spark can set a forest on fire and one person can ignite spiritual renewal in a church, community, and the world. Ultimately, the issues facing our world are spiritual and need a spiritual remedy. Although it may sound simplistic to some people and rejected by others, the words of the late Andrea Crouch still ring true, “Jesus is the answer for the world today, above him there’s no other, Jesus is the way.”
